Hosam El-Ocla has received the M.Sc. degree in the Electrical Engineering Department of Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt in 1996. He joined the Graduate School of Information Science and Electrical Engineering, Kyushu University, Japan in 1997 as a research student. He has been awarded the Doctor of Engineering degree in 2001 in the same University. Dr. El-Ocla joined Lakehead University since 2001 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2007. His research interests are on waves propagation and scattering in random media. Also, he is working in computer communications, networks, and protocols particularly of wireless networks.
Dr. El-Ocla is a senior member of IEEE (Antenna and Propagation Society). He used to be a member of Institute of Physics (IOP) (2006 to 2009), and technical committee member on telecommunications of IASTED (2005 to 2008). In addition, he is a Professional Engineer of Ontario (P.Eng.). He was invited for research visits to Ariake National College of Technology (Japan) and Manchester University (UK). In 2009 and during his one year sabbatical, he worked in King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He woked in both E-Learning and Distance Learning Deanship and the College of Engineering, Electrical Engineering Department.
Dr. El-Ocla has served as a reviewer for many journals such as: IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Signal Processing, Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing, Waves in Random and Complex Media,...,etc. Also he was invited to chair sessions of several conferences. He is working on projects supported by NSERC and always welcome students and post-doc fellows to join his research team.
